What is Visual Communication Design?

Visual communication is the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon and relies for the whole part on vision. It is primarily presented and /  or expressed with 2D images including signs, typography, graphic design and icons.

The theory behind their usage is that a visual message accompanying text has a greater power to inform, educate, or impact on a person or audience. Visual communication may be used independently or in conjunction with other communication methods.

Visual communication is evaluated measuring the comprehension and understanding of the image the audience. It cannot be based on personal aesthetic and / or artistic preference as there are no universally agreed-upon principles of beauty and ugliness.

As our technologically advanced society now uses social media as one of its most effective ways to communicate; utilising the right visual imagery for your company is vital. This incorporation of text and images delivers messages quickly and simplistically through all social media platforms. Potential limiting factors at present, are the number of characters and image size that can be used and the internet access requirement itself.
